How to Crochet the Herringbone Double Crochet Stitch in the Round

Hey there!

Today’s stitch tutorial is about the Herringbone Double Crochet stitch in the round. This is the same great stitch to create a herringbone texture in your design with step by step instructions on how to work it in a round. Working in rounds can be a little tricky. This stitch is really easy to translate into the round because it doesn’t skip stitches or require chains between them.

Make a Magic Circle .

Round 1: In the Magic Circle, Ch 3 (counts as a St), 5 Dc in circle, Sl St join to first St.

Round 2: Ch 3, Dc in first St, 2 Dc in each St around, join.

Round 3: Ch 3, HBdc in first St, [HBdc in next St, 2 HBdc in next St] Rep until last St, join, turn.

Round 4: Ch 3, HBdc in first St, [HBdc in next 2 Sts, 2 HBdc in next St] Rep until last St, join, turn.

Round 5: Ch 3, HBdc in first St, [HBdc in next 3 Sts, 2 HBdc in next St] Rep until last St, join, turn.

Continue to add an additional HBdc before increases to make a standard increase for a flat circle. Do this for as many rounds as needed to maintain a flat circle for your project.

This is a fun stitch is the round because the texture is fascinating in the round. The stitches start to almost give a 3D effect. I hope you found this helpful!

Happy hooking!
