Relax and Refocus With Crochet

Hey there!

I have been thinking of things to blog about and thought a post about self care was due. I’m very busy with having about 3 jobs, personal life, and trying to run a business on top of it all. I often neglect the self care portion. This is not a good habit to have and I wanted to take the time to talk about how to relax using crochet.

In order to relax and refocus with crochet it is important to pick the right pattern or project. I like to choose a “mindless” pattern to follow. These pattern offer a simple and easy to follow stitch or stitch pattern to repeat. In my YouTube video this week I am working on a double crochet stitch mug rug. It is simple and doesn’t require a pattern. I also love the double crochet stitch. That is another key. Make sure you love the stitch or stitch pattern. It will make it that much more enjoyable.

Do not pick a project that has a deadline! Do not pick a project that you plan to gift to family or friends. That will not likely be an escape from the stress of daily life. It might even add to it.

Remember that self care is so important. Constant stress without a brain break will overly likely lead to burnout and even damage your physical health. Our physical health is strongly tied to our mental health. I too need to take this note. That is why sometimes my crochet business tasks are delayed. I’m working on being better for myself. I encourage you all to do the same!

I am wondering if there is anyone out there that finds crochet to be stressful no matter what they choose. If you are in that group please comment or reach out to me. I would love to hear your pain points and see if I can help!

I hope this post was encouraging. Happy hooking!
