Why You Don’t Need to Crochet Fast to Be Successful

Hi there! Today I want to talk about the perception that you need to crochet fast to become successful at the art.
It is easy to think you need to be a fast crocheter to become better at it or to work on more difficult patterns but that is not the case. I know I struggle with this idea. I have so many projects that I want to work on but not very much time to just sit and crochet. I really wish I could dedicate hours at a time to crochet! If you are like me and have many other responsibilities that take priority, you are not alone.
Crochet is a slow fashion/art form. It is the craft that takes a piece of string and transforms it to a fashion piece, home decor, or art piece. That is simply stupefying! You don’t need to crochet fast to create beautiful pieces. You just need to slow down and take your time. That is where the success comes in. Taking your time will increase your speed over time because your confidence will grow.
Take heart that crochet is one of those rare hobbies that allow you to slow down without sacrificing progress. Even if you only have 30 minutes to work on something it is leading to the end of the project. You can look at my Slow Tv playlist on YouTube. I film these in about 30 minutes or less. I am not a fast crocheter by any means but that doesn’t stop me from working on anything I want. I do have to accept that it might take me longer than someone else but that is ok. You are allowed to slow down and enjoy a process.
I hope that inspires you to pick a project that may have been intimidating you because of the size. Now is the time to tuck in! Happy hooking!
