I created a snood that can be pulled up for a cozy hooded scarf or a nice big cowl. This is an intermediate crochet pattern. It Landscapes in the Volcano colorway from LionBrand, which is a medium weight year, and a H/5mm hook. 
 
The featured stitches are the Puff Stitch, Spike Cluster Stitch, and Herringbone Double Crochet. You can check out my youtube for the stitch tutorials for each of the stitches in this pattern. I think that a beginner with knowledge of the basic crochet stitches can absolutely make this snood. Once finished with the pattern you will have a beautiful, unique and cozy snood/cowl.
