3 Types of Crochet Joins

Writer: Andrea PetersonAndrea Peterson

Hello there!

Today I will be talking about three ways to join yarn to a project. You would need to join when you need to add yarn to a different place than when working along. Let’s get to it. I have posted a video about these join methods.

  • Slip Stitch join: To slip stitch join make a slip knot and place it on your hook. Then position the working yarn strand to the back of the work. Insert hook into stitch/join placement, yarn over and pull through loop on hook.

  • Single Crochet join: Place slip knot on hook and position working yarn strand to the back of the work. Then insert hook into stitch/join placement, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through two loops.

  • Chain join: Insert hook into stitch/join placement. Place yarn over hook and pull through, chain one to secure joined yarn.

I hope this is helpful! Happy hooking and crafting!
