How to Crochet the Puffy V- Stitch

Hi there!

This week’s stitch is the Puffy V- Stitch. I really like how simple this stitch is and how pretty it looks in both a single color and changing colors. Of course like most stitch patterns changing color really makes it pop where as a single color is more subtle. I have a YouTube tutorial for this stitch as well check it out here.

Let’s get started!

Good to know about the Puffy V-Stitch:

  • This stitch has a multiple of 3.

  • The chain of 3 counts as a stitch.

  • Each Puffy V stitch is separated by a chain, and you work into the chain spaces after Row 1.

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Dc: Double Crochet

Rep: Repeat

Sk: Skip

Sp: Space

St: Stitch

Special Stitches/Techniques:

Puff:

  1. Yarn Over and insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop.

  2. Yarn Over, and insert into same stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Repeat once more.

  3. Pull through all 7 loops on hook.

Chain a multiple of 3

Row 1: Dc into the 4th Ch from the hook, [Ch 1, Sk 2 Ch, Puff, Ch 1, Puff into same St] Rep until there are just two Ch left, Dc into last Ch, turn

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as St), [Puff in Ch 1–Sp, Ch 1, Puff in same Ch1-Sp, Ch 1] Rep until the left with turning Ch, Dc into turning Ch, turn.

Row 3 and onward: Rep Row 2 until desired size is achieved.
