Hi there!

I have gone over the Herringbone Double Crochet stitch and now I’m going to talk about the Half Double crochet version. Just like the Double Crochet version it will have that Herringbone texture. The stitches are a little bit shorter. I really love the texture this stitch gives and the stitches have less gapping than a traditional Half Double crochet. This stitch is unique, because of how you will pull through the first loop on your hook after inserting into a stitch without yarning over first. It’s almost like a slip stitch before finished the stitch. Let’s get into it.

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

HbHdc: Herringbone half double crochet

St: Stitch

First your going to chain any amount you want. In my YouTube tutorial I chained 13.

Row 1: Yarn over and insert your hook in the 2nd Ch from the hook, yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops on hook. Repeat this until the end of your Ch. and turn

Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), yarn over and insert your hook into the St, yarn over and pull through the first loop on your hook, then yarn over and pull through remaining two loops.

Repeat Row 2 until you reach your desired size for your project.

That’s all there is to this stitch. I hope this was helpful.

Happy Hooking!
