How To Long Wave Stitch in the Round

Writer: Andrea PetersonAndrea Peterson

Hello There!

Today I wanted to go over the Long Wave Stitch. I have a video tutorial on my youtube as well for the visual. Let's get started.

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Dc: Double Crochet

Hdc: Half Double Crochet

Sc: Single Crochet

Ss: Slip Stitch

St(s): Stitch(es)

Tr: Treble Crochet

This pattern uses a multiple of 14 plus 2.

Chain using the multiple and then slip stitch to the first chain to create a loop. This will be the start of working in the round.

Round 1: 1 Sc into next Ch, [1 Sc into next two Chs, 1 Hdc into the next two Chs, 1 Dc into the next 2 Chs, 1 Tr into the next three Chs] 2 Sc as many times as desired based on multiple, Ss to first St

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 Sc into each St, finish with a Ss in the first St.

Round 3: Ch 4 (counts as first Tr), 1 Tr into next St, 1 Dc into the next two Sts, 1 Hdc into the next two Sts, [1 Sc into the next three Sts, 1 Hdc into the next two Sts, 1 Dc into the next two Sts, 1 Tr into the next three Sts] as many times as desired based on the multiple, Ss into last St before Ch 4.

Note: This round will end with 2 Tr stitches.

Row 4: Ch 1, 1 Sc into each stitch, Ss into first St.

Now the repeating rounds will begin. You will repeat Rounds 1-4 for as long as desired based on the project. I would recommend ending on a repeat of Round 2 or 4 for symmetry.
