Hi there!
Let’s jump into Thermal Crochet. This technique is great for a thick fabric with smaller gaps. The fabric is known as double thick because of how think the fabric becomes when working it up. That also means that you will need more yarn to make a piece with Thermal crochet than if using traditional single crochet stitches. Check out my YouTube channel for the tutorial video. You will see that the sample is quite small and I mentioned it would have been about double the size with traditional single crochet stitches.

You can use half double and double crochet stitches in the Thermal Crochet technique. I will not be covering those at this time. I simply just wanted to start off with basic Thermal Crochet.
Abbreviations:
BLO: Back Loop Only
Ch: Chain
Sc: Single Crochet
Yo: Yarn Over
Chain as many as you would like for the width of your project.
Row 1: In the second chain from the hook Sc into each back bump of the chain to the end, Ch 1.
Row 2: Flip the first row so that it is vertical, insert hook in BLO and then into the Ch loop below, Yo and pull through both loops, Yo and pull through two loops (same as a traditional Sc). Repeat this until the end, Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Insert hook into BLO and then in the unworked front loop from the stitch below, Yo and pull through both loops, Yo and pull through two loops on hook, Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 3 until you have the desired size.
Final Row: Insert hook into both loops of the Sc and the unworked loop from the previous stitch, Yo and pull through all loops, Yo and pull through two loops on hook, Ch1 to fasten off.
I hope this was helpful.
Happy hooking!
