Hey there!
Today’s stitch tutorial is about the Rice stitch. This stitch pattern creates a neat texture and is a one row repeat. This stitch pattern uses the front and back post double crochet stitches. With it being a one row repeat it is easy to use this for a relaxing crochet session.
Let’s dive in! You can also find the video tutorial on my YouTube Channel.
Things to know about the Rice stitch:
It has an odd multiple. So chain up an odd number and you are good to go.
It is a one row repeat. Perfect for a mindless crochet project.
The turning chains do not count as stitches.
Abbreviations:
BPdc: Back Post Double Crochet
Ch: Chain
Dc: Double Crochet
FPdc: Front Post Double Crochet
Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Rep: Repeat
St: Stitch
Ch an odd multiple.
Row 1: Dc into the 3rd Ch from hook, Dc into the each St until the end.
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a St), Hdc into 1st St, [FPdc, BPdc] until 2 Sts remain, FPdc in the next St, Hdc in the last St.
Row 3: Rep Row 2 until the desired size is met.

That is all there is to this lovely textured stitch. It is perfect for beginners looking to up their game. It is also perfect for advanced crocheters because of the ease of a one row repeat that creates a beautiful fabric.
Happy hooking!
