How to Smooth Wave Stitch Pattern

Writer: Andrea PetersonAndrea Peterson

Hi there!

Today I want to talk about the Smooth Wave. It is a stitch pattern that uses double and single crochet stitches to create a wave effect. The waves are shorter than the long wave stitch. Let's get into it.

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Dc: Double Crochet

Rep: Repeat

Sc: Single Crochet

St: Stitch

This stitch pattern has a multiple of 8+4+1 for the Ch. It is best to work this stitch in at least two colors so that the pattern is apparent.

Row 1: In Color A: Ch within the multiple. For example, Ch 29 and in the 2nd Ch from the hook Sc into the next 4 Chs, Dc into the next 4, turn

Row 2: In Color B: Ch 2 (counts as a stitch), 4 Dc, 4 Sc, turn

Row 3: Rep Row 1 and 2 until desired size it reached.

You can also work a row of Sc in between each color change to create a smoother look between the color changes in the stitch pattern.

This is a very simple stitch pattern that has a nice effect when worked in multiple colors. I will be making a clutch using this stitch pattern.

I hope this was helpful and I will have a tutorial on my Youtube for this stitch also.
