Why Crochet Is Easier Than You Think

Hey there!

I am going to open your mind to why crochet is easier than you think. Crochet may seem complicated especially when you see that the project level is intermediate or advanced, but once you understand the basics even those projects are manageable.

The Basics: First you must understand the basic stitches. The basic stitches are the single, half double, double, and treble crochet stitches. Once you master these stitches you can create any style fabric out there. Sure there are various techniques like Tunisian, Mosaic, Thermal, and more but most of the techniques are based on the basic stitches. The placement and how you work the yarn overs make the difference. You can reference my Thermal Crochet posts and video tutorials for a great example of this. Each of the Thermal stitches are worked the same as the basic stitches, however, the stitch placement and where you yarn over is altered.

Stitch Patterns: You will see there are different stitch patterns out there. For example, my Cartwheel Purse uses the Catherine Wheel Stitch. This stitch pattern uses single crochet and double crochet clusters to create the stitch pattern. It is a matter of putting the stitches together in a certain way. However, you just need to know how to make the single and double crochet stitches.

I truly believe that if you have an open mind crochet is easy. It does take practice but it completely within everyone's power to master this wonderful craft! You can always Youtube anything that might be giving you trouble or a technique that you want to learn. I have a lot of videos for this very purpose. I wanted to share my passion and love for this craft. I also love teaching others how to do things. It brings me joy to see others learn and be able to do things on their own. It is part of my wanting to build a healthy and happy community.

I hope this post inspires anyone that is weary to not give up!

Happy Hooking!
